CityCampMCR will be a two-day, free event which will be held on 14th-15th October, 2011. (Note the change of date – more info on our website.) CityCamp Manchester aims to share ideas, explore challenges, join-up resources and develop solutions which build a more sustainable future for Greater Manchester.
CityCamp Manchester is a broad-based initiative to bring together people from across Greater Manchester who want to make a positive contribution to their part of the Greater Manchester region. It aims to develop a network which supports people in identifying and solving problems, enabling people to take practical, meaningful action in their communities.
During the two-day event, we aim to:
* identify projects that contribute to a more sustainable, resourceful and resilient Greater Manchester;
* showcase innovative approaches that inform and inspire participants to take action in their community;
* share ideas, explore challenges, join-up resources and develop innovative solutions;
* engage and build relationships between a diverse range of people (including local government, businesses, community groups, academics, journalists, technologists…).
We want to work with as many people as possible so as to make CityCampMCR a diverse and meaningful event. We also want to ensure that this activity does not solely happen at the October event, but rather coheres into more sustained work, after the event. Finally, we want to specify that CityCampMCR is not simply a ‘talking shop’, but is about taking action and making a sustainable impact.
